Always Stable. Always Able.
A Home for Every Hero.
My name is Vernita, and I’m the Managing Director of Stable Able Housing. For me, this work isn’t just a job—it’s my calling. I know what it’s like to feel lost, to struggle just to survive. My past is filled with moments of desperation where I took what I thought I needed to make it through the day. That path led to addiction, run-ins with the law, and a deep sense of brokenness.
But in the middle of my pain, I found God—or perhaps, He found me. With His grace, I began a journey of recovery that transformed my life. Through faith, I not only overcame addiction but also discovered a deeper purpose: to help others rebuild their lives the way God rebuilt mine. That’s why Stable Able Housing means so much to me. It’s a place where brokenness meets healing, where struggle turns into hope, and where veterans who have given so much can finally feel the love, support, and empowerment they deserve.
The veteran population holds a special place in my heart. These are men and women who have made sacrifices most of us will never fully understand, yet far too often, they’re left to fight battles of homelessness, isolation, and despair alone. At Stable Able Housing, we believe that no veteran should have to face those challenges. Just as I found a home in God, my mission is to help every veteran in the Aurora area find a home of their own—a place of safety, stability, and belonging.
Through emergency housing, permanent housing, and community outreach, we’re not just addressing immediate needs; we’re building a stronger, more connected community. This work isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. Every time we help a veteran take a step toward stability, I see God’s hand at work.
I am living proof that redemption is possible, and I want our veterans to feel that same hope. Together, with your help, we can honor their service by giving them the support they need to thrive. Let’s build a brighter future, one veteran at a time.
